Approaching change management from two perspectives is essential for understanding and managing its impact across different areas of an organization. Let's evaluate it by focusing on these two groups:

1. Business Solutions Teams Perspective: SAP and Non-SAP Projects

  • SAP and ERP Change Management: SAP projects are crucial for managing core business processes in large organizations. Change management in SAP involves careful planning and managing every modification within the system. Any change can affect business processes, data flows, and even the integration with other modules. Therefore, SAP changes should not be implemented without thorough testing and full collaboration with business units. An effective planning and communication strategy must be in place to ensure that these changes are executed without disrupting business operations.

  • Non-SAP Projects: Changes in non-SAP software projects can generally be made more quickly and with agile methods. However, careful change management is still necessary to meet business unit expectations, ensure integration with existing systems, and minimize potential security risks. DevOps practices and efficient use of continuous integration and delivery (CI/CD) processes can help make these changes more manageable and controlled.

2. Cybersecurity, Information Security, Server Virtualization, and Basis Management Perspective

  • Cybersecurity and Information Security: Change management plays a critical role in this area. Any modification related to security patches, network security policies, or access controls can affect the entire system's security. Changes must be made not only from a technical perspective but also in consideration of compliance, regulatory requirements, and threat analysis. During the implementation of security patches or new security measures, detailed risk analysis is essential to ensure business continuity and maintain a positive user experience.

  • Server Virtualization and Basis Management: Server virtualization and fundamental infrastructure management are other critical areas where changes must be carefully managed. Changes in server configurations can directly affect system performance and functionality. Modifications made to virtual servers can have significant impacts on resource utilization, data storage, and network management.

  • Basis Management: For Basis management, where the fundamental infrastructure support for SAP systems is provided, necessary optimizations and changes must be made without compromising system performance. This also involves backing up SAP environments and continuously monitoring their status.

In both groups, effective change management is critical for ensuring business continuity, enhancing system security, and meeting the expectations of business units.
